Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of many active compounds in cannabis. It’s non-psychoactive, unlike its counterpart tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). This means that CBD does not cause a “high.”
Cannabis-derived CBD products may be more effective than those from hemp, but industrial hemp-derived CBD still provides many health benefits.

Under natural conditions, cordyceps grows in the remote mountains of Tibet and the Himalayas. Some Himalayan towns are completely dependent on the collection and sale of this mushroom. It is the main source of livelihood for most families. It only appears for a few weeks each year in remote regions of Nepal, Tibet, India and Bhutan. But finding it is difficult. It is highly valued as an aphrodisiac. It has been the basis of traditional Tibetan and Chinese medicine for centuries.
Cordyceps sinensis (Yartsa Gunbu) is the most expensive mushroom in the world. in 2017 high-quality mushrooms have been sold for as much as US$140,000 per kilogram! On average, cordyceps weighs about 300-500 mg.
History of Cordyceps Mushrooms
Chinese cordyceps is one of the best-known traditional Chinese medicines, believed to have been discovered 2,000 years ago. An unusual looking, orange caterpillar-like mushroom was discovered by Tibetan shepherds working at high altitude. They used cordyceps to cope with the effects of low oxygen on their bodies, which had to withstand a considerable strain.
Cordyceps was first recorded in Ben Cao Bei Yao encyclopedia by Wang Ang in 1694. The Italian scientist Saccardo named cordyceps found in China officially Cordyceps sinensis in 1878.
Chinese cordyceps has become a major source of income for local farmers and shepherds. More than 300,000 people in the local regions of China are dependent on the harvest and sale of this mushroom. About 80% of families in the main production areas derive 50-80% of their total income from the sale of cordyceps.
Cordyceps gained popularity after 1993. Chinese National Games, when a group of female athletes broke nine world records. The winning women admitted to using cordyceps regularly.
The price of cordyceps in China has risen drastically since the 1970s due to extreme interest in the mushroom and limited supply, as the mushroom is hand-harvested only in certain areas.
